Toki Pona Day 2025

These past 24 hours were another great suno pi toki pona, an online festival celebrating the birthday of Toki Pona. Check out jan Usawi’s cover of the Talking Heads song “Once in a Lifetime”, all in Toki Pona, from 1:17:00 in Part 3 of the live feed:

If you see the word Samolot around a lot, it’s from people saying “tenpo ni sama la” (“Same as it ever was”) sounds like “tempo ni samolot”.

New Toki Pona Book Released!

Sonja Lang, creator of Toki Pona, has released her third book. It is a translation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz into Toki Pona. It uses all sitelen pona, the hieroglyph system of writing. It’s available on Amazon.

I admit that hearing that the book was all in the sitelen pona, not using the English alphabet, was a bit daunting to me. I had never really gotten confident in using those symbols. However, after a short review of the symbols, I found the book highly readable. And, it was a great chance to develop that confidence! I now feel that a whole new world of Toki Pona writings has opened up to me.
